Cosby Show Princess to become Prostitute Princess.. WHAT?

When most people think of Rudy from the Cosby Show, most think of the adorably cute and small Keisha Knight Pulliam. However, this child actress is attempting to break free from that innocent persona to tackle on a new role in “Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail”.

Pulliam will be playing Candy, an inmate of Madea’s AND prostitute, who is being preyed on by another fellow inmate Big Sal. Of course, Madea will intervene in this future comedy set to release in 2009, and I’m sure that there will be hilarious shenanigans in this movie. Madea always finds a way to make the worst situations a laughing matter.

But you may ask, “What did Madea do to land her a spot in the big house?” Well, according to the the film company, Madea’s streak for causing trouble finally catches up with her.

Its ’s good for little Rudy to come out and tell the world that she is through being seen as the little girl from the Cosby Show. This is great because she finally get to show the world what she is made of. She will be joining a list of other skilled actors, such as herself, that have starred in Tyler Perry’s works. Speaking of which, she was the youngest actress every to be nominated for an Emmy, and she was only 6! I guess she played the part of Rudy well, but can she play the role of a prostitute well? We shall see in 2009!

Secret Wedding of Hip-Hop Royalty

Last week, pop princess Beyonce and long time boyfriend and Rap mogul, Jay Z, were rumored to have gotten married in Jay-Z’s apartment in New York.

The couple have been rumored to have been together since 2002, most likely meeting on the set of Beyonce’s music video of “Crazy in Love”, but have yet to come out the public about the truth of their relationship. They have always been very private of their relationship and refuse to talk to press about the details of their relationship.

But when do we say, “just spill it” ? I think that everyone knows that the two have been romantically involved for quite some time now.

Anyway, I think its important for them to come out to the public and admit that they got married. I mean, who do they think they are kidding? I’m sure if they just come out and admit that the two are now legally recognized as man and wife, then the many fans that follow the two would be ecstatic for them! I think they should get together a press conference or something of that nature to address the rumor of the baby on the way.

I think by not saying anything, they are only hurting themselves in the end by fueling rumors of baby bumps etc. It would be best for them to just tell the truth and get it over with. They won’t be able to hide the marriage forever! Even friend Gwyneth Paltrow, who attended the secret wedding, has refused to say anything about the big day.Both the star’s publicist refuse to comment on the obviously-real wedding

I think its time Jay Z & B, to just come clean and confess your love for eachother to the deserving people that love your music!

 

Campbell throws tantrum at Airport

Late yesterday afternoon Naomi Campbell was escorted by police off of a plane for assaulting them and having a notorious Naomi tantrum at the Heathrow Airport in London.

After the airline, British Airways, misplaced her bags, she became upset and insisted that they find the missing luggage and continued to throw a fit by screaming and yelling at the BA employees. They continued to call the police to have her escorted off of the plane, only to have her lash out and spit at the police. Gross!

Spokeswoman Annabel Fox had this to say about the misplacement of Campbell’s baggage. She claims that BA: “decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then called the police to forcibly eject her.”

She ”was going nuts, spitting, punching and lashing out. BA staff were genuinely concerned about her well-being,” a “police source” told The Sun of London. The passengers on the plane had to encounter a 90-minute delay. I am sure that they didn’t appreciate this!

This is not something new for people to encounter from the notoriously bad-tempered diva. Campbell is probably most well known for her attacks on her personal assistants and other employees. For example, in a 2006 incident Campbell threw a mobile phone at an employee leaving a laceration on the back of her head that had to be closed with four surgical staples.

It seems to me that Campbell needs some type of sentence other than court-ordered Anger Management Classes. This type of behavior would make it difficult for Campbell to get modeling gigs and would also make it difficult to work with her. I’m sure that many people don’t appreciate this diva’s bad attitude. It appears that Campbell has not learned her lesson from previous incidents, and by the victims only suing her and the court ordering her attend classes doesn’t seem to impact this million dollar model.

I think it would be best for Naomi to make some type of voluntary step towards a better public image by attempting to join some organizations that help those with anger management, like the National Anger Management Association. Maybe some extended time in jail is needed for this diva to realize that she is being inappropriate.

But what makes this incident so strange, is that the descriptions of the situation change depending on who you ask. If you talk Ms. Campbell’s rep, she would point the finger at BA telling the press that BA somehow were being unreasonable towards Campbell.  But if you were to talk to BA, they would say that Campbell was being “obnoxious” because they wouldn’t let her into the VIP lounge.

Whatever the real story, I’m sure that there is much in store for the 37 year-old model, including more Anger Management classes!

So everyone knows about how the paparazzi affects and meddles into the lives of the celebrities and how annoying they have become. Their prevalance in Hollywood has both aggravated and made the celebs’ lives more difficult in their “stalker” type of behavior. It was only a matter of time before the celebrities would fight back, giving the paparazzi photos of hoaxed instances.

In Pop Fiction celebrities are given the chance to create and fabricate current rumors or start new ones to give the paparazzi and new sources to get excited about. In return, Pop Fiction films the antics performed by the celebrities and is played on the E! channel.  For example, Avril Lavigne creates a fake baby bump in order to fool paparzzi that she is preggers. Also, Paris Hilton has a fake shaman walk and drive around with her, and soon stories and pics starts circulating that she changed her religion and many other made-up stories.

But the question is, are these celebrites doing this just to get back at the paparazzi, or to create some type of buzz about themselves? There is a common rule of thumb among celebs, “any type of publicity is good publicity”.

Publicity makes stars become more well-known, and why wouldn’t brands or companies want to have these celebrities as endorsements? Yes, paparazzi are probably annoying, but think about what comes out of the “stalk-arazzi.”

So in conclusion, Pop Fiction is good for celebrities because they get their names into the press and other forms of media. But they get the chance to do this on their own terms, and who doesn’t want things to be on their own terms? This builds their buzz, and its not like the paparazzis miss out… they still sell their pictures in the beginning!

RECAP: Paris’s Sex Tape

Paris Hilton suffered a blow when ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon released a tape of the two having sex in a hotel suite. The video, named 1 Night in Paris, released shortly after Paris’ debut of the hit show, Simple Life. After the video released, Hilton claimed that she was “out of it” and didn’t know what was going on in the video, causing Salomon to sue Paris for defamation. Paris eventually turned around and sued Salomon for the release of the tape. The two eventually settled out of court in July 2005. After selling almost 600,000 copies of the tape, Paris was sent into a higher level of fame than before the sex tape was released.

 After researching many news articles about the Paris Hilton X-rated video, it seems as though the media portrayed Hilton as a victim of the situation. But this is understandable considering that Hilton had nothing to do with the release of the sex tape. Salomon said that the tape was stolen from his home, however, reports say that Salomon was payed for the rights of the tape. Hilton seems to have taken a different role from victim by apologizing for the disgrace she brought to her highly respected family.

 It is funny however, that Paris went through her publicists among others celebrity’s publicists to assist her in damage control of the situation in talking to the press and answering questions concerning Paris’ tape. These included Jennifer Lopez’s publicist, Dan Klores, and her family spokesperson, Siri Garber. Many of her reps told press that the video was “intended for their own personal use”. The Hilton family as well seemed to be infuriated by the sex tape, saying that anyone that took part in the video’s release was involved in “criminal activity” and that the culprit would be “vigorously prosecuted”. When asked on many occasions, Paris had no comment on the tape. It seems to me that the media portrayed Paris in a impartial and neutral light when covering the story of the sex tape. Even the photos associated with the stories have no raunchy element to them. Headlines are fact-based and not opinion-based, which is helpful to Paris when the stories are being read by millions of people.

Blogs seems to make the Paris Sex Tape a laughing matter, joking about the heiress being involved in such activity. Many bloggers seem to make the point that creating a sex tape and being a B-list celebrity only boosts one to higher levels of fame. Some bloggers insist that Paris created the sex tape for this sole purpose. Garber even told press that “We wanted to do a lot of promotion, have Ms. Hilton go on talk-shows and really promote the tape. But now it’s all over the Internet, and people are watching it for free! That’s an injustice.” It appears that even Paris tried to jump on this controversy train. Next Stop, Fame!

 There is a distinct difference between the writings of blogs and news stories. It seems that news stories give the basic facts and display some type of neutrality on the subject. They don’t identify Paris as a sexual deviant, but Blogs, on the other hand, seem to give readers a reason to laugh at the situation and make a spectacle of the tape and Paris as a person. Bloggers aren’t afraid to post scandalous photos associated with Paris’s Sex Tape, some bloggers even post actual stills from the tape with certain areas censored. Blogs also seem to give more of a “normal person’s” reaction to the scandal, and allows one to shake their head at the situation. Even the headlines of others’ blogs which talk about the tape candidly make Paris’ situation a laughing matter. These include, “Paris Hilton Sex Tape Game” and “I’m Going to Make a Sex Tape”.

As publicists, I think that Paris’ reps did a good job at trying to take the scandal of the sex tape and spinning it to make Paris more visible in the limelight. I mean, isn’t this who Paris wanted to be anyway? The tabloid-encompassing socialite and heiress to the Hilton Family Hotel chain. I think that her reps did pretty well in spinning this to benefit Paris in the long-run, causing her to be constantly chased by the paparazzi and also landing her numerous roles and cameos in movies and television shows. Whatever Paris had to endure during the release of the sex tape, the outcome seems to have been positive for her. Who doesn’t know who Paris Hilton is?!?!

Oprah Does it Again!

OPRAH IS AT IT AGAIN!

Oprah Winfrey has recently opened THE OPRAH STORE in Chicago this month. I mean, of course! Why didn’t she think of this sooner? Everything that Oprah Winfrey has created has turned to gold it seems. These highly successful business endeavors only add the to hype and popularity of the almighty Oprah Winfrey.

But that’s not all folks! Most of the proceeds from these stores are going toward Oprah’s Angel Network, a charity that supplies grants to non-for-profit organizations that are stationed around the world. Everyone knows that Oprah has always been giving with her millions.

 Though many may have their reservations about Oprah Winfrey almost owning half the world, I think that this will be great for her image. There are many women who admire the entrepeneurship that Oprah had displayed in the many years of being in the public eye. It seems like average American women root for her because she represents them. She’s doing it for the ladies!!

At least we all know that this new addition to the Oprah Winfrey empire will not be a completely for her own benefit, that charities around the world will reap in the benefits of the success of The Oprah Store.

Oprah’s store will include all the highly coveted items that are displayed on the Oprah Winfrey Show and other items listed in her publications. Chicago women will be thrilled to have this store in their area. Maybe we will see some in Texas soon!

“Be Kind Rewind’ is a product of plagiarism? EGADS!

The new movie, ‘Be Kind, Rewind’ starring Jack Black and co-starring Mos Def, could be a product of plagiarism, according to Perez Hilton’s Web Site.

‘Be Kind, Rewind’ is a movie about two men who are forced to save the movie rental business after Jack Black’s character accidentally de-magnetizes all the movies. The movie focuses on the re-creation of many popular films from ‘Driving Ms. Daisy’ to ‘Ghostbusters’. Hilarious right? What could be better than seeing Jack Black in all the popular movies that we love? So if you wanted to rent the ‘Titanic’, you wouldn’t get Winslet or Dicaprio! Instead of finding a partially nude Winslet, you might find a partially nude Black… Not cute!

 But there is one problem with this, is seems as though the idea for the movie derived from a Nickelodeon’s children’s comedy sitcom, ‘The Amanda Show’, starring Amanda Bynes. What the hell?! Amanda’s character’s family owns a video store and creates their own versions of movies (like the episode where they re-created ‘The Wizard of Oz’). AND THEIR ITALIAN! Funny right? Italian clerks at a video store dealing with disgruntled moviegoers, a recipe for disaster and laughs!

Anyway, the point is this. Jack Black is hilarious! I’m sure that it will be funny, but the makers of the film could suffer some legal battles. And once people gain knowledge about this, it will only create a buzz and make them want to see the film some more. I mean hell, its Jack Black!

 The movie is set to release today,  February 22. This might just be a good profit for these copy-catters…

Fey To Host SNL..Post Writer’s Strike

So its pretty exciting the fact that funny girl, Tina Fey, will be returning to Saturday Night Live to be the first guest-host after the writer’s strike.

I think that this is a smart move for the SNL producers/staff. Its great that they decided to bring back SNL with a bang, by bringing back one of the best of the funny women that had the chance to grace the stage of SNL! Or just someone who was part of the cast.

We all have our favorite sketches that came from SNL. I, as a matter of fact, LOVE SNL and almost own all of the “best ofs..” that they have out. My favorite with Fey would be the “Woomba commercial”, that plays off the Roomba. Yes, it may be a little inappropriate for some people, and yes she might not be the WHOLE commercial.. but its amazing how she delivers the lines without flinching.

Anyway, I just hope that she comes back with all the comedic timing and wit that she once had while on the show, but I dont doubt that she can come back as funny as ever. We have all seen her in her weekend update booth and have seen or heard great things from her movie that she produced, Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan.

I wonder if they brought back Fey because they knew that she could contribute a lot to the show post writer strike… Whatever the reason, im sure that we are all in for many laughs as we tune in on Feb. 23rd for the return of SNL!

Anyone excited? because I sure know that I am…

Brit’s Bit in the Rolling Stone

The Rolling Stones recently came out with its newest issue. And of course, like many other magazines, Britney Spears’ face is plastered on the cover.

The article is said to contain all the nitty gritty in the life of Britney Spears, from escapades at the mall to her life around a drig-addicted father.

Yes its fun to know about all the star’s problems and issues, because it humanizes them and brings them down to the “normal” person’s level. But when do we stop being curious and start being.. well, creepy.

Nowadays, there is so much rumor and gossip surrounding our celebrities. Whenever we see them break under the pressure, it seems like we show no sympathy for their internal struggles that we all have.

The exploitation of celebrities is an ongoing issue. For instance, this Friday marks the one year anniversary of Anna Nicole Smith’s death. Shortly after she died, she was all over the media. Many news stations reported on her overuse of drugs and severe dependency on them. Instead of making it a tragedy, it was a mockery and a lot of finger-pointing. The recent death of Heath Ledger on the other hand was a completely different story. Many media outlets reported it as a tragedy and “Entertainment Tonight” even had to pull the plug on a segment that they were doing on him so that it wouldnt upset anybody. Does anyone sense a little bit of hipocrisy?

Now, Britney is on the chopping block, with all her secrets exposed to the world. Though these problems that are being published are setting the stage of how Britney got the way she did, she is getting help and that is what is important, right? Like many publicists say, the public is forgiving. If Britney comes out of her treatment facility as normal as she was a few years ago… then everything will be ok again…hopefully. Hell, she might even get rid of a couple thousand of those pesky paparrazos!

We all should just hope that her treatment went ok and that she comes out bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to take on the world. Maybe then, these crazy articles will stop popping up everywhere!
